PRIMITIVE STAR PIN CUSHION OR ORNAMENT

PRINT THIS PAGE AND YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PATTERN!
This 5" star can be used as a pin cushion or ornament. Use any
homespun or ticking fabric of your choice and simply follow the
instructions on the pattern. Have fun!

bulletTrace around star on lightweight cardboard to make template. Cut out.
bulletWith right sides together, trace around star on double thickness of fabric. Pin.
bulletTracing line is sewing line.
bulletSew around star using narrow stitch. cut out ¼" beyond sewing line.
bulletUsing a seam ripper or sharp pointed scissors, make a 3/4" cut through just one thickness of fabric in the center of the star as shown in illustration. Turn and stuff.
bulletPinch opening closed and fabric-glue or hemstitch opening closed.
bulletUsing cotton perle thread, sew button in middle of star over slit. Pull tight to indent and tie in a knot and then a bow. NOTE: If you take bow loops and tie them in a knot, your bow will stayed tied.
bulletSew a 7" long piece of heavy perle cotton thread through one of the points for hanger.

You may have to enlarge the below pattern on a copy machine. It is about 5" from tip to tip.
